Livable Centers Initiative

Livable Centers Initiative (LCI)

LCI is a program of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) that awards planning grants on a competitive basis to local governments and nonprofit organizations for the enhancement of existing centers and corridors consistent with regional development policies. Through a Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) grant, the City of Hapeville is updating the City of Hapeville Comprehensive Plan. The Plan, once adopted by the City Council, will be a tool to help guide the future growth and development of the City.

This program of studies and projects has become known as the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI). The focus of the program is to encourage increased residential development, mixed-uses and connectivity in activity and town centers. For more general information on the program, see the ARC's LCI website.

The LCI in Hapeville

Building from the 2005 Hapeville Main Street Town Center Study (PDF), the City of Hapeville is working with consultants on a master plan that will focus on guiding future growth within the LCI Study area by creating a vibrant, walkable, mixed use community that helps the City reach its greatest potential. A key component of the planning process is community engagement. The Hapeville LCI relies on community participation to help define the future development goals of the City and the process will include many opportunities for public input. The Mayor & Council adopted the 2017 LCI/Comprehensive Plan Update on May 16, 2017.
