Notice of General Election

The City of Hapeville, Georgia will hold a General Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Hoyt Smith Conference Center at 3444 N. Fulton Avenue, Hapeville, GA 30354 for the posts of Mayor and Alderman at Large.

Qualifying will begin at 8:30AM on Monday, August 19, 2019, and end on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 4:30PM, in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall 3468 North Fulton Avenue, Hapeville, Georgia 30354. Those desiring to qualify for Mayor or Alderman at Large positions shall file a Notice of Candidacy, such notice requires filers to designate which candidate position is sought.  The qualifying fee is $254 for the Mayor position and $234.00 for the Alderman at Large position.  All qualifying fees shall be paid at the time of qualifying. 


Notice of Call of Special Referendum Election

Notice is hereby given that the City of Hapeville, Georgia, will hold a Special Referendum Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, for the purpose of voting on the questions of whether or not the governing authority of the City of Hapeville, Georgia, shall provide that the $10,000.00 homestead exemption from all City of Hapeville ad valorem taxes for residents of the City of Hapeville be amended so as to increase the homestead exemption to $15,000.00 and to provide a homestead exemption from the City of Hapeville ad valorem taxes for municipal purposes in the amount of $20,000 of the assessed value of the homestead for residents of that City of Hapeville who are 65 years of age or older, who are veterans, or who are disabled.

The ballot will read as follows:

 (   )   YES          Shall the Act to provide for a $10,000.00 homestead exemption from all City of Hapeville ad valorem taxes for residents of that city be amended so as to increase the homestead exemption to $15,000.00.

(   )   NO                      

The ballot will read as follows for the second question:

 (   )   YES          Shall the Act be approved which provides a homestead exemption from City of Hapeville ad valorem taxes for municipal purposes in the amount of $20,000.00 of the assessed value of the homestead for residents of that city who are 65 years of age or older, who are veterans, or who are disabled.

 (   )   NO                      

All persons desiring to vote for approval of the Acts shall vote “Yes,” and all persons desiring to vote for rejection of the Act shall vote “No.” If more than one-half of the votes cast on such questions are for approval of the Act, the increased homestead exemptions as amended shall become of full force and effect on January 1, 2020.


Only those voters registered in City of Hapeville elections shall be allowed to vote in the Special Referendum Election.

Saturday, October 26th from 8:30AM to 5:00PM
Monday, October 28th to Friday, November 1st from 8:30AM to 6:00PM
No Sunday Voting
