Commendations and Concerns

The HPD encourages commendation for personnel who perform their duties admirably.

Commendations may consist of an appreciative phone call to the employee's supervisor, a formal award presented by the Chief of Police, or a letter, which is the most common form of recognition.

Letters should describe the location and events of the incident along with the employee's name and badge number (if available). If you wish to commend an employee for a job well done, please contact Renee Godwin in one of the following ways:

Our mission is to provide honesty and accountability to the citizens we serve. The Chief of Police ensures each complaint, handled at either the supervisory level or through an Internal Affairs Investigation, receives the same treatment and quality of investigation. One key to rendering a premiere level of service is open communications with those we serve. In keeping with this philosophy, we actively seek your comments and concerns.

Should you feel that you have been treated in a manner that is anything less than professional by any employee of this agency, we ask that you request to meet with a supervisor. The supervisor will listen to your concerns and advise you of the steps to be taken.

Our objective is to treat every citizen of the City of Hapeville with dignity and respect. Our goal is to not only meet but exceed your expectations, and with your help, success is assured. In 2015, there was one (1) Internal Affairs Investigation conducted. The statistical summary of the investigation is as follows:

Type of Allegation                        Total Received                   Sustained
Retaliation on an employee                      1                                       1
