Frequently Asked Questions
Payments can be made by mail, in person, online, or via the drop box. We honor postmark dates.
I sold my property after January 1, why did I receive a tax statement?
Taxes are calculated for the entire year and cannot be prorated. Your closing documents usually specify who is responsible for paying the taxes. We encourage you to contact your closing attorney or refer to your closing documents.
Is there a penalty for late payment?
Taxes not paid will incur late fees and penalties after the due day and will continue until the account is paid in full.
I did not receive my bill; can the interest and penalty be waived?
Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve you of the responsibility to pay by the due date. If you did not receive your tax statement, a copy is available on this website, or you can call our office at 404-669-2106 to obtain a copy of your bill.
How can I change the mailing address on my tax statement?
Resident requesting mailing address and name changes must contact Fulton County Board of Tax Assessors. Make your request by visiting the website at www.fultonassessor.org and accessing online services or your request may be mailed to:

I closed my business or no longer own the personal property after January 1, do I still have to pay the taxes?
If the business closed after January 1 of the current tax year, the taxes are still due. Taxes are assessed as of January 1 for the entire tax year, even if the business closed or was sold. You must notify the Fulton County Board of Tax Assessors.
